Build Diary
December 2008
December started and it was cold
I am thinking that I might be finished soon.
Jobs to do
Brakes, fluid leaks, brake light switch to test
Speedo. I blew up my sensor (new sensor arriving need to fit it)
Tacho. Need to change the feed (Aprilia RS250 speedo doesn't take a GSXR1100 tacho feed, no great surprise)
Temp gauge. Needs testing.
Pressure gauge. Needs testing (maybe bleeding too).
Engine floor needs installing
Oil leak needs tightening and retesting.
Water overflow tank needs fixing
Loom needs binding
Install rollcage
Install bodywork (need to drill it for bulkhead fittings)
Install bonnet latches
Replace bulb in front sidelight
Wire-up side repeaters
Insulation in side pod (get Exhaust first)
Fit final steering wheel
Wire up electrical accesory socket
Fit airbox for final time
Things to source
Exhaust system
I'm now thinking that it won't be so soon, but after I started the engine I am very enthusiastic.
I started bleading the brakes, but turned up lots of leaks (mostly frmo
T-pieces). I am using reusable end fittings, and I guess I need
to bolt them up tighter into these fittings. I have ordered spare
T-pieces as maybe the ones that I have are dodgy. Now worth
risking it.
Bleeding the rear disks as the caliper needs turning upside down to
bleed it (this is a common problem the occurs due to the location of
the handbrake cable fitting. Not too bad once you know to expect
it. Bleeding the fronts is a joy, great access (leave the wheels
on) and very easy to undo the bleed nipple (the benefit of new parts).
More as it happens.
